I wore one throughout pregnancy, but since giving birth 2 years ago, the bikini has given way to a much more modest and forgiving tankini.
Maybe that's why I was drawn to the image of actress and mom Julia Roberts cavorting on a Hawaiian beach earlier this month in a tiny little polka-dot number saggy tummy.
And stretch marks (and a bit of backfat) exposed for the world to see. I was even more surprised by how forgiving the accompanying article in the Daily Mail was of Julia Roberts.
"In a flattering polka dot bikini, the 41-year-old Oscar winner showed off a fabulous figure - in between wiping noses and chasing toddlers in the sand."
And the comments with the article are also highly supportive of Julia Roberts. I think she looks fabulous. She's in shape, and she's real. And she looks amazingly happy. Did I mention she's 41? Maybe my bikini days aren't over after all.
