Julia Roberts' well known paparazzi fracas demonstrated why the Pretty Woman: Julia Roberts' recent paparazzi fracas showed why the "Pretty Woman" is not always so pretty. The leggy star with the trademark smile is no stranger to run-ins with mobs of cameramen snapping their shutters away for the perfect tabloid picture. But, this time, the affable star blew a gasket.
The Eat Pray Love star was taking a leisure stroll around the city of Los Angeles recently with husband Daniel Moder and their three children in tow. Just another day out with family on a lovely sunny day, right? Wrong, especially if you're Julia Roberts!
Reportedly, she took notice of a paparazzo who had been tailing her family around town all day. That's when things went bad, and her last button was pushed. Without warning, she approached the wary photographer in a very belligerent manner, and with hands gesturing in his face, she chewed him out as only Julia Roberts could do to the paparazzi. In the photo, it looks like David against Goliath (but David was the larger of the two).
Julia Roberts' Paparazzi Run-in - I Want a "Normal" Life for My Kids Julia Roberts has had so many run-ins with the paparazzi, that it's tough to catalog them all. She's been known to chase down a paparazzo in her car while honking and jeering at him when he was spotted taking pictures at her kid's school. That was another gasket-blowing moment.
While Promoting her Eat Pray Love, she appeared on an interview with Oprah, and expressed the joy and love of having kids, and how their lives should be protected from prying eyes. She said she wants them to have a "normal" life.
Angelina Jolie sat down in an interview with Larry King recently and expressed her dismay about the constant harassment of tabloid-hungry photographers. This is what she had to say about the paparazzi:
"I do hope there will at some point be laws about how close they can get to children with cameras, because I think at some point, it's gonna be clearer that it's emotionally not healthy."
Here's where Julia Roberts' paparazzi run-ins get the best of her thinking. Of course, it is very understandable that a mother wants to protect their children at all costs. No argument there. But, on the other hand, celebrities must understand that they voluntarily stepped into the life of fame and fortune. And with that comes a market of people who want to see and know more about their lives. Julia, you signed up for the part, so play it.
And, as far as her getting into the face of someone whether she implies harm or makes physical contact, is against the law, and even stars are not exempt from that.
