Hollywood star Tom Hanks shared the red carpet was flanked by his two leading ladies as he attended the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie Larry Crowne. The 54-year-old actor posed for photographs with Julia Roberts and wife Rita Wilson, who also has a part in the movie. Tom arrived in style to the event, held at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre, as she rocked up on a scooter.

Both Julia, 43, and Rita, 54, opted for a classic black colour scheme, with Roberts wearing a black trousers suit and Wilson opted for a knee-length dress with a splash of sparkle. They left the colour to the other cast members, who brightened up the night in an array of bright ensembles. Co-stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Taraji P. Henson stood out in their respective pink and red gowns while Grace Gummer wore a silver and green dress.

Larry Crowne, which is released in the U.S. on July 1, is a comedy drama directed by Hanks. He also co-wrote the script, with Nia Vardalos, and stars in the movie as the titular character. Crowne is a Navy veteran who loses his job at a big-box store and decides to enrol into community college.

He then befriends a group of outcasts and falls for speech professor Mercedes Tainot, played by Roberts. Meanwhile, Hanks has revealed that a Toy Story 4 movie is already in the works. The veteran actor has voiced the role of Woody in all three of the Disney Pixar movies and was asked about the possibility of a fourth movie.

Julia Roberts is surprised by how hard Tom Hanks works

The actress stars with the actor in new movie 'Larry Crowne', and with the 'Philadelphia' star also taking on directorial duties, Julia was astonished by his energy levels and "impressive" command of the film. She said: "It is funny with him directing, it's amazing the amount of energy he's emitting in a day. He must just go home and fall into unconscious sense of sleep. He really does go 100 per cent in each department. All day long he's happy, he's buoyant, he's present.

"It's kind of mind-boggling. This is only his second time directing, he really has it down how he can shape shift between one place to another, it's pretty impressive."Julia believes Tom's desire to create a fun and collaborative environment on the film brought out the best in all the cast and crew.

She explained: "It was great, we both believe working should be fun, and I think we both believe in a responsibility to create that idea for everybody else. "Tom is amazing at that, he makes everyone feel apart of it, participating in it, like their two cents are meaningful. It really is a collaboration. He really does create an environment where we're all happy and we feel like we are doing our best stuff, everybody."

Tom Hanks says Julia Roberts, who plays an alcoholic teacher in their forthcoming film "Larry Crowne", is a perfect party girl. "You haven't hung around with her," Hanks joked when asked why he thought of Roberts for the role while penning the movie's script. "Look at the way this woman makes a Margarita! That's a different sort of drunken school teacher. There's stuff behind that," he told eonline.

Julia Roberts renders Rami Malek 'quiet'

Posted in : Gossips

Rami Malek, best known for his role in the HBO miniseries The Pacific, plays one of Julia Roberts' students in Larry Crowne, opening July 1. And, says the actor, "I was just enamored by her. I'd be sitting in class and she'd sit on my desk and ask me questions. I was rendered mute by her. She's a magnetic lady."

What kinds of things would Roberts ask? "She has twins and I'm a twin and she was constantly asking me questions. She was very intrigued by the psychology of what happens as twins evolve and grow. She was genuinely just interested in my brother, the differences between us, how close we were. Every morning I would see her and she'd ask me how my brother Sami was doing. She always remembered his name. That's something I respect about her," says Malek.

Tom Hanks directed the movie and plays another of Roberts' scholars. And yes, the famously droll Hanks lived up to his reputation. "It was an experience where you just kind of watch what's happening. You can't take your eyes off her and he has you in stitches the entire time. Some call it work, but I wouldn't call it that," says Malek.

In November, Malek bites into The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, playing a vampire. So is he team Edward or team Jacob? "Wow. No comment on that one. I'm team Bill Condon, how about that," says Malek, giving the director a shoutout.

Julia Roberts Says I Am lucky to identify DannyHollywood star Julia Roberts feels that her marriage to cameraman Danny Moder is one of the best things to happen to her. The 43-year-old married Moder in 2002 and believes that her husband, who is also the father of her three children --six-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and three-year-old Henry--is her best friend, the FemaleFirst reported.

"I hope there are good people who agree that I have done good, kind things in my life. But to really, ultimately, stand fully in a moment of realising that I was born to love and be the wife of this man," the 'Pretty Woman' star said.

"He stands by the choices he has made. He will never blame it on somebody else and I have never seen anybody else do that," she added. It is Roberts' second marriage after her divorced in 1995 with Lyle Pearce Lovett, an American singer-song writer and actor.

Julia Roberts believes it was her destiny to marry Danny Moder. The 'Larry Crowne' actress wed the cameraman in 2002 and Julia thinks they were always meant to be as he is her best friend as well as a great husband and father to their three children, six-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and three-year-old Henry.

She said: "I hope there are good people who agree that I have done good, kind things in my life. But to really, ultimately, stand fully in a moment of realizing that I was born to love and be the wife of this man.
"Danny is my best friend, my truth-teller. There's something you can build a life on. "He stands by the choices he has made. He will never blame it on somebody else and I have never seen anybody else do that."

As well as enjoying married life, Julia, 43, says her other greatest pleasure is motherhood. She told Britain's OK! magazine: "The kids are really angelic and wondrous. It's so heavenly and kind and dear just to have that - the chaos that goes on in our house and the quietude that goes with that."

Julia Roberts vanishes

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

Julia Roberts vanishesEvery ticket for Julia Roberts on Broadway is sold out, so if you haven't got yours already, you probably won't get one. Rest assured that you will miss nothing.

Oscar-winner Roberts made her stage debut last night at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, in a 1997 play by Richard Greenberg called "Three Days of Rain."Verdict on Roberts: The star of "Pretty Woman" and "Erin Brockovich" and "Closer" is an appalling stage actress.

She registers a zero for stage presence. Her line readings ring consistently false. And she isn't even capable of doing a Southern accent (though she comes from the South). Verdict on the play: Pretty lousy.

Greenberg, the Tony-winning author of "Take Me Out" (the nude baseball play) may be the most overrated playwright on Broadway. The director is Joe Mantello, who won a Tony for directing "Take Me Out."Yet, of course, people are flocking to the Jacobs to see the movie star.

Interestingly, the audience at the last preview before the opening failed to give Roberts even the customary standing ovation. People are leaving the theater disappointed. This phenomenon causes us to ponder how someone who has achieved such dizzying heights of fame in the movies can be such a dud onstage.

Whenever she isn't speaking, Roberts simply disappears. Maybe it as to do with how small a performance must be to be captured by the camera. And how big a stage performance must be to register with the audience.

I didn't see the original production of this play at the Manhattan Theatre Club, but the dual role Roberts has now was played by Patricia Clarkson, an actress who started onstage and made a successful transition to the movies (and voice-overs for ubiquitous BMW commercials). Those who saw Clarkson said she was memorable.

Roberts appears with two male co-stars, Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper (of the movie "Wedding Crashers"). Rudd especially, who has a stage background, blows Roberts away whenever he shares the stage with her.

The play is a convoluted affair about two generations, both portrayed by the same three actors. Act One, set in 1995, deals with the aftermath of the death of a famous modern architect named Edmund Janeway.

In an abandoned downtown loft, the dead man's two children are reunited. The crazy brother Walker (Rudd) missed the funeral but is back for the reading of the will. His sister Nan (Roberts) is mad at him for disappearing.

Enter Pip (Cooper), the son of Janeway's business partner, Theodore Wexler, also dead. He is a handsome soap-opera star who seems free of the Janeway children's neurosis. He's in a perpetual good mood.

"Being in a good mood," he tells Walker, "is not the same thing as being a moron." (Greenberg does occasionally turn a phrase.) Reading an old journal of his father's, Walker thinks he has figured out the man who was so taciturn with his own children. The big issue in the will is who will inherit the two architects' masterpiece, a modernist house "in the desirable part of Long Island."

Act Two transports us to 1960. The two men plays their fathers, and Roberts plays Lina, the wild Southern dame who started out with Theo and wound up with Ned. Lina, Walker tells us early on, is "sort of like Zelda Fitzgerald's less stable sister." Hers is the craziness she passes on to Walker.

Roberts gets through the first act looking petulant. She misses the second-act characterization completely, failing to manufacture that Southern accent and not giving the slightest impression of an incipient madwoman. It's true that such a role isn't easy to do — the charming fruitcake can so easily turn into a bore — but Roberts never even comes near it.

The second act really centers on a misinterpretation of one phrase in Edmund Janeway's journal, which seemed to imply that Wexler was the creative genius of the team. In reality the phrase refers to the stolen girlfriend, a fact of which all the children were apparently ignorant. At least I think that's what it is about, for confusion seems to reign over the disgruntled audience. Greenberg seldom marries his verbal acuity to a truly decipherable plot.

Roberts isn't helped by costume designer Santo Loquasto, who keeps her buttoned-up in a raincoat for most of Act One, and dresses her in huge bell-bottom pants (unheard of in 1960) for Act Two. Loquasto also designed the loft, which looks just like the '80s loft in Lanford Wilson's "Burn This."It does rain real water, though, for what seems like three days. The people who sit in the first few rows come out all misty. But not for the right reasons.

Julia Roberts about her: I'm No Filmmaker'

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

Hollywood superstar Julia Roberts has no intention of ever stepping behind the camera to take charge of a movie, insisting the only thing she's capable of directing is her family's mealtimes. The Pretty Woman star shot to international stardom when she was 21 and has since expanded her craft to include producing projects such as independent picture Jesus Henry Christ and her recent TV documentary Extraordinary Moms. But Roberts, 43, is adamant she will never direct a film for herself. She tells W magazine, "I can direct breakfast, lunch and dinner. I take pride in my kitchen, but I'm not going to direct a movie."

Instead, the mother-of-three hopes to continue using her influence in Hollywood to champion other movies she believes in, like she did for Javier Bardem and his emotional drama Biutiful in the run-up to the 2011 Academy Awards. Her outspoken support for the movie helped Bardem land an Oscar nomination, and Roberts is proud he earned the recognition he deserved. She says, "I was the loudmouth on that. It was such a crazy travesty that the movie wasn't getting attention. And it's fun to throw your weight around. That's one of the perks of what we do."

Tom Hanks has admitted that he had an affair with Julia Roberts on the set of the upcoming Larry Crowne. In an interview with W magazine, Hanks - who wrote, directed and starred in the movie - revealed that he hand-picked Roberts to appear as a university professor who falls in love with his character, a middle-aged student. “I had some teachers who looked like Julia, I would see them and think, ‘I love you’,” he teased. “So there was never anyone but Julia. Also speaking to the magazine, Roberts said that Hanks encouraged her to cut loose while filming a scene that featured heavy drinking. The actress joked: “Why did Tom Hanks think of me when he thought of a drunken schoolteacher? What does that mean?”
