Julia Roberts Videos: Interview In Her Home: There is a room upstairs in Julia Roberts’s home in Malibu that she calls her “little quiet room”. It is there that she keeps her personal oddments, sewing machine, her knitting basket and where she retreats from the world when she feels the need.

But, she says with a laugh, she doesn’t spend much time up there nowadays; being a housewife and mother, as well as continuing to act when the script appeals to her, takes up all her time.

Kit Kittredge: As American as Overpriced Dolls

June 18, 2008 |15:18 | Gossips | Interviews  By : Team X

To my 10-year-old daughter, the term "American Girl" means "that store my meanie of a mom unlike all the other, higher-quality moms won't let me go near." While we're on the defensive, why should I? She hates dolls, and I creeped out by row upon row of homogenized mannequins with staring Stepford Wife eyes and designer threads get nauseous within 50 feet of that posh emporium, which peddles multiculti feminism with an outrageous price tag.

Such are the cultural contradictions of corporate capitalism: As Disney is to tales of plucky small-town proles hurdling adversity through hard work and decency, so the American Girl franchise, a subsidiary of that mom-and-pop outfit Mattel, is to our nation of happy rainbow families, celebrating our shared values while honoring our differences. Could be worse, I guess, but with their sturdy ethnic heroines African-American, Native American, and every other American you can think of overcoming poverty and discrimination, the American Girl books are as predictable as they are proto-feminist and inclusive.

A trial balloon sent up to test the ether for extending the franchise, Kit Kittredge: An American Girl is no exception. Based on several American Girl stories about a 1930s cub reporter in Cincinnati, this dull theatrical debut especially disappoints because I'm usually fond of square, sepia-toned, period-costumed kids' movies (like Fly Away Home) that go nowhere at the box office. This one could go somewhere: As the opening weekend of Sex and the City showed, gee whiz, there's a distaff market out there, so why not tap the little ones?

Taking a page out of her Ocean’s 11 co-star’s global child-rearing book, Julia Roberts is hoping to fill her children’s passports with as many stamps as possible as well.

“Julia wants them to be culture,” the actress’ pal tells OK!. “She and [husband] Danny [Moder] are looking into lessons for them to start speaking a second language.”
So far this year, the Moder family, which includes twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 3, and baby Henry, 23 months, has compiled a hefty number of mileages. Shooting her flick Duplicity which re-pairs her with Closer co-star Clive Owen alone has taken the clan to New York, the Bahamas and Rome.

But before they head elsewhere, Julia, 40, wants to spend some much-needed down time back home in Malibu.

“Julia loves traveling, but sometimes she says it’s good to be home in your own bed!” the friend says.

Resplendent Julia Roberts at MET's Costume Institute Gala: Photos

May 8, 2008 |12:10 | Gossips | Interviews  By : Team X

The ever charming Julia Roberts wore a platinum Giorgio Armani Privé gown at the 2008 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala, on Monday, May 5. Julia was a co-host at the event along with George Clooney, who was also outfitted by Giorgio Armani.
Her floor length custom designed gown had a soft draped neckline accented by an antique brooch. The gown had intricate beading on a mesh overlay. Julia, a red carpet pro, showed old Hollywood glamour with her hair swept up in a high bun and the soft bangs falling sideways on her forehead.

"I wore the dress because he made it for me," said Roberts, who gave the designer a hug. Giorgio Armani sponsored the evening with Vogue magazine.

The night's theme was "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy".

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the world's largest and most important art museums, located on the eastern edge of Central Park in Manhattan, New York, United States.

Its Costume Institute contains more than 80,000 costumes and accessories. Due to the fragile nature of the items in the collection, the Costume Institute does not maintain a permanent installation. Instead, every year it holds two separate shows in the Met's galleries using costumes from its collection, with each show centering on a specific designer or theme.

Julia Roberts Can't Open! (And Other Crises Setting a Shattered Hollywood on Edge)

May 5, 2008 |12:39 | Gossips | Interviews  By : Team X

OK, OK, Hollywood Reporter we get it. The trade paper today took 1,600 words, three pie charts, two line graphs, and a half-dozen adorable floating-head info boxes to confirm the long-suspected word on the street that are you ready? the star system is dying. Jim Carrey can't open! Brad Pitt's last film did $4 million! Julia Roberts hasn't broken $70 million since 2001! Shriek!

What's replacing them isn't that surprising either, but the mind reels nevertheless when we see it in print:

There's a sense now evident in multiple boxoffice metrics and comments uttered privately by the dozens of agents, managers and producers interviewed for this report that the interplay among consumers, celebrities and entertainment dollars is changing. The new dynamics are a challenge the next generation of up-and-comers Shia LaBeouf, Seth Rogen, Emile Hirsch and Katherine Heigl often are cited could face.
"As audiences get younger, they don't care about movie stars in the same way," Sony Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper says. "The idea of seeing a beautiful movie star on the big screen just isn't the same to them."

Yikes! Katherine Heigl will pretend she didn't hear Culpepper the man responsible for the recent no-name hit revival of Prom Night, incidentally just say that. Meanwhile, we're looking at Speed Racer's sluggish tracking and wondering if fledgling leading man Emile Hirsch isn't facing that challenge as we speak. On the bright side, his generation already has Orlando Bloom, so he doesn't have to worry about plunging into that niche. Sky's the limit, kid.
