Minnesota has a Julia Roberts connection. Local designer Liz Oie has been making jewelry with gold, silver and precious and semiprecious stones for more than a dozen years out of her home in Burnsville.

While locally the Oie Jewelry line (available at Epitome in Galleria and Stephanie's in St. Paul) has become very popular, last summer Oie's eldest son Collin and his girlfriend, Jenna Schneiderman, took it to New York, where they were living and interning.

They set up shop on the street in Brooklyn. Zoe Kravitz (Lenny's daughter) stopped by. The jewelry did so well that Schneiderman decided to try a few stores. SoHo boutique Callalilai loved it and started carrying it.

The 67th annual Golden Globe nominations for best actress in a musical or comedy have been announced in Beverly Hills, Calif., by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

The nominees, announced Tuesday morning are: Sandra Bullock ("The Proposal"), Marion Cotillard ("Nine"), Julia Roberts ("Duplicity") and Meryl Streep twice, for "Julie & Julia" and "It's Complicated."

The Golden Globes, Hollywood's second-biggest film honors after the Oscars, will be presented Jan. 17 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, televised live by NBC and hosted by comic actor Ricky Gervais.

Film actress Julia Roberts was one of more than 630 runners who participated in the 2nd annual Santa to the Sea half-marathon yesterday in Oxnard, Calif.

The 13.1-mile course began at Nyeland Acres (home of the giant Santa Claus figure that used to greet drivers along Highway 101 in Carpinteria),

All the way through downtown Oxnard, and then wound through the strawberry fields before ending at Channel Islands Harbor. Other events included a 2-man relay and a 5K Fun Run.

The non-profit agency, Garden Acres Mutual Water Company that owns the Nyeland Acres site, organized.

She told the crowd that anyone who bid would get a kiss from her, which was OK because her husband [Danny Moder] was in the first row and the kids were at home. “At one point, Sam Rockwell tried to carry her offstage, as he jokingly asked for ‘three bottles of water for Ms. Roberts’,” the source added.

The Pretty Woman herself Julia Roberts reportedly got shit-faced at the LAByrinth Theater's Celebrity Charades fund-raiser last night. An insider reports:"She was drinking vodka and tonic beforehand, and was pretty tipsy by the time the event started.

Sounds like Julia knows how to be the life of the party, but her charades skills are questionable.  The source says that to get her team to guess "In The Heat of the Night," she rolled on the stage floor and pretended to make out with herself. We’re not sure exactly when last night’s annual Celebrity Charades benefit for LAByrinth Theater Company, sponsored by Entertainment Weekly and Duracell, devolved into complete chaos, but we’d say it was inevitable from the moment Julia Roberts took the stage.

The night was part live auction, part charades playing, all set on a battle-ready stage that cleaved the St. Paul of the Apostle Church Hall in two.

First, John Patrick Shanley auctioned off a bunch of stuff using the standard technique of reminding the audience that they were all going to die  “and soon!”  so why save up their money.

Then the game’s referee, Eric Bogosian, announced four teams of about six celebrities each, as well as the annual auction for a slot on LAB co-founder Philip Seymour Hoffman’s team. He was about $7,000 into the auction when Roberts decided he wasn’t raising money fast enough.

Julia Roberts is the original “pretty woman,” so it’s no surprise she has been chosen by beauty giant Lancôme to represent the line in 2010.

“Her exceptional talent, her radiance and her strong commitments perfectly echo Lancôme’s values. We are convinced she will embody the brand in the most sublime way possible,” said Youcef Nabi, president of Lancôme International, in a statement.

Roberts is following in the footsteps of actresses such as Isabella Rossellini, Kate Winslet, Anne Hathaway, and Juliette Binoche.

At age 41, Roberts says she has had no work done, and credits her husband with keeping her looking young. “The key to beauty is always to be looking at someone who loves you, really,” she told Allure Magazine.

Actress Julia Roberts now has another accolade to add to her list of accomplishments. Numerous Internet sources have reported that the 42-year old was signed to represent French cosmetics brand, Lancôme International.

According to Lancôme’s president, Youcef Nabi, Roberts “…is an emblematic woman of her time. Her exceptional talent, her radiance and her strong commitments, perfectly echo Lancôme’s values.”

Roberts’s stint as ambassador for Lancôme will begin in 2010. She will be joining other famous faces such as Kate Winslet and Anne Hathaway.

 Actor Clive Owen is the face of the brand’s male scent, Hypnose Homme.  Lancôme produces a wide variety of beauty and skincare products.

Actress Julia Roberts has been tapped to be the ambassador for the cosmetic firm Lancôme.

The Lancôme contract is the latest project in her busy year which also includes two new movies “Eat , Pray, Love “ and “Valentine’s Day”.

It’s not new for a Hollywood actress to enter the cosmetic and beauty realm. Demi Moore was offered a similar deal with Lancôme sister brand Helena Rubinstein as a face of its fragrance. The Oscar-winning actress is fan of the product long before the contract was announced.
